About this idea
A pocket compass with a short inscription inside the lid (“Wherever you go…”, a date or coordinates) is a thoughtful gift for a graduation, gap year, retirement or a big move.
Most are brass or brass-coloured with a hinged lid; check whether the engraving is inside or on the outside.
Who it suits
Graduates, travellers, walkers, people starting a new job or moving away.
Ordering in time
Engraved to order by most sellers; leave a little time to check the message.
Before you order
- Write your message in your own words — popular quotes may be copyrighted.
- Check whether the compass is functional or decorative.
- A presentation box makes it feel special.
